Official Contest Rules

1. Participant Eligibility: Anyone from the listed age groups from Edmonton and surrounding areas.

2. All the participants must fill out and sign registration and agreement forms found here: WELCA Summer Art Contest

3. A participant must not copy works of others. No plagiarism allowed.

4. The right to all artworks and writing submitted to “The WELCA Summer Riding Art Contest” will be held by WELCA once they are entered into the contest.

5. The artwork/writing submitted to “The WELCA Summer Riding Art Contest“ will not be returned.

6. Information of participants will be collected by WELCA, and the collected personal information will be used to contact the contest winners and a modified version of the participants name may be used on social media or in other promotional materials.

7. A participant must follow the Topic/Theme direction. 

8. If the declared winners can’t be reached by a given date, the runner up will be awarded the prize.

9. Prizes cannot be exchanged or modified.

10. Artworks can be used for promotional purposes for WELCA. 

11. The creations (artworks, drawings, and writings) may be posted on the website www.welca.ca, and may be used to create future promotional material along with the participants name.

12. The Categories are outlined here:

    1. Category 1: The Colouring Contest page can be obtained in person at WELCA or downloaded and printed from our website below.

    2. Category 2: The Drawing Contest page can be obtained in person at WELCA or downloaded and printed from our website below.. 

    3. Category 3: The Writing Contest must be written by the entree and must be limited to 2 pages in length - double spaced, 12 point font. 

13. Submissions for Category 1 and 2 can be submitted in person at WELCA during office hours (M-F 7:30am-4:00pm) or mailed to our mailing address: P.O. Box 4271 Station S, Edmonton, Alberta T6E 4T3.

    The submission deadline is 11:59:00pm on April 25th, 2026

14. The Winners will be announced on April 30th, 2026 via social media. Winners will be notified via email. Odds of winning are based on the number of submissions received per category. 

15. Submissions will be evaluated based on:

    1. Relation to the prompt​

    2. Clarity/Legibility 

    3. Originality and Creativity

16. There will be 3 winners in total;
    1 (one) winner (Category winner) from each Category:

    1. Category 1: Ages 4-7: The Colouring Contest
       Prize: Free admission to WELCA’s Pony Up Camp

Estimated Value of Category 1 prize: $480

1. Category 2: Ages 8-16: The Drawing Contest
   Prize: Free admission to WELCA’s Horse Rider Camp

Estimated Value of Category 2 prize: $760 

1. Category 3: Ages 16+: The Writing Contest
   Prize: Free admission to WELCA’s Summer Learn To Ride Program

Estimated Value of Category 3 prize: $625
